Regenerative & Alternative Medicine
Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine is one of the latest treatments being used to help restore, repair and re-grow damaged tissue in pets. In veterinary medicine, this therapy is primarily used to treat arthritic animals, and for those with tendon and ligament injuries—although indications are that in the future this therapy may be effective for other medical conditions.
Regenerative treatment at Haven Veterinary Clinic involves the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The plasma is then injected into the affected area on the patient. Benefits include:
- Reduction of inflammation
- Pain relief and management
- Regeneration of tissue—recent studies report that more than 80% of dogs with arthritis who are treated with regenerative PRP therapy show improved quality of life.
The process is fairly simple and has few side effects. To learn more about regenerative medicine, check out the video below and then give us a call and we can determine if it’s right for your pet!
